L.A. Mitchell is known to many as a Jazz and soul Singer. She began her foray into the live music scene with her standout Live at the Matterhorn Album. Since then, she has dabbled in pop-rock with Dukes and worked for NZ heavyweights Sir Dave Dobbyn, Tim Finn, Bic Runga and mega-group Fly My Pretties. She has supported Stevie Wonder, Lionel Richie, The Pretenders, Blondie, and INXS. More recently, she has toured with Troy Kingi and Dallas Tamaira in the sold-out Bill Withers Social Club shows.
Recently, her solo work has taken a back seat to motherhood and her duo project of indie-alt-folk, Terrible Sons, with her husband, Matt. This project was nominated at this year's 2024 AMA for Best Folk Artist.
Now she is back, testing the waters with a fun yet intimate solo piano show that displays all her nuance between keys and voice. You can expect to hear songs from the musical partners and journeys she has travelled on and songs she loves, like Aretha Franklin, Elton John, Carol King and Nina Simone, as well as renditions of some of her back catalogue and new material sitting in the wings waiting to fly.
"I left the gig wanting to go home and play her albums, and I will definitely be seeing her live again" Amanda Mills nzmusicianmag.
