Woolston Brass, led by Music Director Phil Johnston, presents a thrilling night of symphonic brass featuring Derek Bourgeois’ major work Devil in the Deep Blue Sea. This high‑energy programme also includes audience favourites Czardas, Procession of the Minister, Hungarian March, Toccata, and Strauss’ Horn Concerto No. 1 performed by Guest French Horn Soloist Emma Eden.
Woolston Brass is thrilled to welcome Emma Eden, Principal French Horn of the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra. Emma began her musical journey on tenor horn in the Waimataitai School Brass Band in Timaru and has since built an impressive career, studying in Canada, Toronto and Berlin, and holding principal roles with Orchestra Wellington and the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra. A passionate educator, she founded Hop and Hum in 2025 and has performed with artists including Olivia Newton‑John, Burt Bacharach, Hans Zimmer, Neil Finn, Six60 and Shapeshifter.
With an exciting programme, world‑class musicianship, and the rare chance to hear a leading French Horn soloist in a brass band setting, this is a concert that promises musical excellence and unforgettable moments.
