Tor Chiles and Chloe Chan are students at Burnside High School. Both members of the Specialist Music Programme, Tor and Chloe were in a chamber group together in 2024, competing in the NZCT Competition. In this recital however, they will be performing mostly solo repertoire on oboe and violin.

Tor is an enthusiastic multi-instrumentalist, playing oboe, bassoon and contrabassoon. On a casual basis, and as an Ireland’s Intern in 2024, he has performed with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra several times, including very recently in Handel’s Messiah. In 2023 Tor passed his A.T.C.L. on bassoon, and in 2024 was awarded A.T.C.L. with Distinction on oboe. He is looking forward to his first year of university at Victoria University of Wellington, studying for a Bachelor of Music majoring in Classical Performance at Te Koki - New Zealand School of Music.

Chloe is also a multi-instrumentalist, playing piano as well as her main instrument - violin. As well as being the Associate Concertmaster of the Burnside High School Orchestra and the Assistant Concertmaster of the Christchurch Youth Orchestra, she is also a strong academic student, and in 2023 received the highest mark in New Zealand for IGCSE Cambridge Music. In 2022 Chloe gained Grade 8 with Distinction on violin. This recital is especially useful for Chloe, as she is currently preparing to record her A.T.C.L., in which she will perform all of the pieces she is playing in this recital.

This special recital is also a farewell for the two, as Chloe still has one more year at Burnside High School - this is the last opportunity they have to perform together before Tor goes up to Wellington.
