What do you do when the festivals cancel, and the internationals can’t visit? Join one of Christchurch’s favourite entertainers, Naomi Ferguson, with a seven piece ensemble of all-star musicians, as she presents the show she’s always wanted to make: Songs for Fallen Women.
In this theatrical evening of song, Naomi shares best-loved material from her twenty-year career - plus some new favourites - fusing jazz, cabaret and pop music. Songs and singers have always been intrigued by women falling: in love, from grace, and in and out of favour. You’ll meet pirate queens and fangirls, ancient goddesses and faded debutantes, in a collection of songs that explore passion, frustration, ambition and heartache.
For one night only, in the gorgeous acoustic of The Piano, Songs for Fallen Women showcases work by Kurt Weill, Dolly Parton, Billie Holliday, Henry Purcell, Leonard Cohen and more. Featuring Mark Menzies (violin), Justin DeHart (percussion), Alex van den Broek (piano), Sophia Bidwell (piano accordion), Reuben Derrick (saxophone), Barrett Hocking (trumpet) and Cheena Rae (clarinet), this is an unforgettable evening you won’t want to miss!
