Resonance Ensemble conducted by Tony Ryan and Henry Nicholson end their 2026 season with a programme of musical movie magic.

Although no concert of movie music would be complete without some of the great film composers of recent times, such as John Williams and Ennio Morricone, Resonance Ensemble’s line-up has plenty of less predictable surprises and delights.

Our concert title – Limelight – will give you a hint of what you can expect but, in the spirit of movie trailer spoiler alerts, we’d prefer to keep our programme under wraps for now.

Suffice to say that the mine of music written for the big screen is extraordinarily rich and varied – not to mention an equally rich seam of music which, although not originally written for film, has become synonymous with some of Hollywood’s biggest blockbusters.

While both John Williams and Ennio Morricone are known for their specialisation in writing film music, some of the twentieth century’s greatest composers also dabbled in musical soundtracks, some quite extensively so. Our programme also explores some of those choices.

So, not your usual orchestral programme of music from the movies. As always with Resonance Ensemble, expect some innovative programming, surprises and exquisite treats. And look out for our social media promotions for more clues to what’s on this enticing programme.
