The Cecilian Singers Celebrate 40 Years of Choral Music.

The Cecilian Singers was founded by Nan Anderson in 1981. It quickly achieved national status with recordings on Radio New Zealand and ‘Praise Be’ and has remained a leading women’s chamber choir in Christchurch. The current musical director, Rosemary Turnbull, has been directing the choir since 2019 with renowned success.

This concert will celebrate our 40 year anniversary. We will present significant choral music for female voices, to reflect our musical journey, performing at The Piano chamber music venue. We are delighted to be performing with CSO players Helen Webby (Harp), Emma Eden and Bernard Shapiro (Horns). The choir will also be accompanied by Sarah Kang (Piano)

The choir and instrumentalists will perform;
‘Gesänge für Frauenchor’ - Brahms
‘Prayer of a Woman’ - David Hamilton
‘Missa Nona’ - Orbán
‘Ceremony of Carols’ - Britten

Please join us at The Piano on November 26th to celebrate our 40th anniversary and experience an evening of beautiful music.
