This encounter of musical expressions will be arranged by the trio composed of Tessa Romano (mezzo-soprano), Luca Manghi (flute), and Dylan Lardelli (Guitar).

Tessa Romano
A native of Syracuse, New York, mezzo-soprano Tessa Romano has held opera fellowships at the Aspen Opera Center and CU New Opera Workshops. Past awards include First Place in the Florida Grieg Voice Competition, Winner of The Art of Art Song Competition, and Winner of the Franco-American Vocal Academy’s Grand Concours Prize. She has been a soloist with the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra, Hartford Symphony Orchestra, American Handel Society Festival, and Boulder Bach Festival. Currently, Tessa resides in Brooklyn, New York where she is established as a freelance singer and voice teacher, as well as a USA Choral Scholar with VOCES8 with whom she tours the country. She has studied with Jennifer Bird-Arvidsson, Freda Herseth, Christopher Arneson, Richard Lalli, and Helen Boatwright.
Tessa currently works as Tenure Track Lecturer in Classical Voice at the University of Otago, Dunedin.
Luca Manghi
Luca Manghi is Principal Flute of the Dunedin Symphony Orchestra and the Auckland Chamber Orchestra, and appears frequently with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra. He teaches flute and chamber music at the University of Otago, the University of Waikato and the
Akaroa International Summer Festival, and has also taught at the University of Auckland and the Levallois Conservatory in Paris.
He won first prizes at the UFAM International Competition in Paris, the Genova International Competition, and the Concorso Cimarosa International Competition.
He was Principal Flute of the Orchestra Filarmonica di Parma (1991 to 1996) and the Orchestra Filarmonica Italiana (1992 to1998). He is a member of the Donizetti Trio, which toured New Zealand in 2014 and 2019 for Chamber Music New Zealand. He has performed at the Australian Flute Festival on three occasions as a guest recitalist, and has given performances in Italy for the New Zealand Govenment, and at the Anghiari Festival. He is a language coach for New Zealand Opera, and teaches at the New Zealand Opera School.
Dylan Lardelli
Born in Wellington New Zealand, Dylan has been the recipient of many scholarships and awards including the award of first place with his piece “Four Fragments” in the Asian Composers League Young Composers’ Competition in Tokyo. Dylan's music has been performed throughout New Zealand, Australia, Europe, Asia and North America, by musicians such as Lucas Vis, the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Tosiya Suzuki, Nanae Yoshimura, Ensemble Vortex, the Nztrio and members of Ensemble Modern.
His pieces have been programmed in the Gaudeamus music week in Amsterdam, the Darmstadt New Music Festival, the New Zealand Arts Festival, and the Bendigo International Festival of Exploratory Music. He has participated in the Acanthes course with Peter Eotvos, the Darmstadt summer school with Beat Furrer and Helmut Lachenmann, and the Royaumont course with Brian Ferneyhough.
As a Guitarist Dylan has performed with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Stroma contemporary music ensemble, 175 East new music ensemble and also in Japan, Korea, China, Thailand, Australia, Austria, Hungary, Germany, and the United Kingdom. Dylan has recorded numerous New Zealand Compositions and is a strong advocate of New Zealand music through commissioning and programming.
