Canterbury Philharmonia Orchestra 2026 Concert Season begins on Sunday 17 May.


Under the baton of the Orchestra’s permanent Music Director and Conductor Mark
Hodgkinson, the Philharmonia will perform some significantly grand repertoire.

Schubert: Symphony No.8 (unfinished)
Douglas Lilburn: Festival Overture
Sibelius: Humoresque V in E flat major op.89 no.3 for Violin and Orchestra (soloist Alec Mark)
Sibelius: Serenade Op 69 No 2 (soloist Alec Mark)
Saint-Saens: Africa for piano and orchestra (soloist Alec Mark)

Established in 1952 the Canterbury Philharmonia Orchestra is the longest established recreational orchestra in Christchurch Ōtautahi.
