At The Piano, our purpose is to bring artists and audiences together, to create and discover transformative arts experiences. One group that is very close to our heart is Ōtautahi’s Next Generation.

The Next Generation Initiative aims to support Ōtautahi’s rangatahi at every stage of their journey from school age students and next generation creators, to post study emerging professionals.

This initiative consists of four strands of support:

• Ticket Gifting Scheme for young people and students (with ID) to attend selected concerts and events at The Piano free of charge throughout the year
  
• Venue Hire Support for projects, concerts and events that specifically involve young people, enabling their engagement with music and the arts at The Piano
  
• The Bronwyn Bijl Scholarship awarded annually to a promising Canterbury-based artist or group to support the delivery of projects at The Piano
  
• Emerging Artist Support for individuals and/or organisations delivering activity for emerging artists who are intending to pursue a professional pathway in the arts. This is targeted one-off support with the aim of helping artists to reach the next stage of their career pathway

Your attendance at our Play it Forward series also support this initiative too - net proceeds from these concerts go directly into our Next Generation Fund.
