Korean-born conductor, Jason Bae returns to ‘The Piano’ as a pianist to present the complete program of Brahms for one concert only in New Zealand.

In his 2023/24 season, Jason has conducted Gävle Symphony Orchestra, Norrköping Symphony Orchestra, The Orchestra of NorrlandsOperan and Västerås Sinfonietta in Sweden. Also, he made his first opera conducting debut with Domenico Cimarosa’s “Il Matrimonio Segreto” in Stockholms Konstnärliga Högskola Opera.

Jason was one of six conductors in the world to be invited to 2023 Fiskars Summer Festival in Finland where he has received masterclasses from Jukka-Pekka Saraste, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Dalia Stasevska and James Gaffigan. He has also received masterclasses under the supervision of Osmo Vänskä with Seoul Philharonic Orchestra and Jorma Panula with South Denmark Philharmonic Orchestra.

From 2020-2022 he was the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra Fellowship Programme Conductor. During the pandemic times, he has founded Afflatus Ensemble to provide concert platforms for young aspiring musicians to come and perform together from all around the world.

He received his second Masters Degree in Orchestral Conducting at Royal College of Music in Stockholm as the sole full scholarship recipient and first Master of Arts in piano performance with the highest distinction award, 'DipRAM' at the Royal Academy of Music in London where he studied with Christopher Elton and Joanna MacGregor. Jason released his debut piano solo album, “Marylebone” (2015) with Austrian Gramophone in Vienna and became the official Steinway Artist since 2016.
