At The Piano, our purpose is to bring artists and audiences together, to create and discover transformative musical experiences. We work with different groups across the spectrum of arts, but one group that is very close to our heart is Ōtautahi’s Next Generation.
Our Next Generation are our future artists and our future audiences; the Next Generation is our hope for a future filled with music, inspiration, support and thrilling performances.
A year ago, we started our Next Generation programme with the sole purpose of engaging our rangatahi in the musical arts. With generous support from our sponsors, our trial Next Generation programme has been a huge success with many attending their first ever concert here at The Piano.

The free tickets have allowed me to observe and enjoy the music of New Zealand's best musicians. These sorts of opportunities rarely occur, and so I wanted to thank you for helping to make concerts more accessible to students.”
Now, we need your help to extend this programme and reach more of Ōtautahi’s youth than ever before. We are creating a Next Generation fund that will cover the cost of 1,000 young people to attend concerts at The Piano throughout the year. The intention for the programme is to fully fund 1,000 rangatahi to attend a variety of concerts from the full programme of shows offered throughout the year. To help us reach this group, we need your financial support.
The average ticket cost for a concert at The Piano is $20.
To send 1,000 of our Next Generation to a show, we need to raise $20,000.
