Woolston Concert Brass with Music Director Nick Johnson will showcase their talents performing a diverse range of music inspired by scenes, landscapes and vistas.
The centrepiece 'Platform to the Heavens' written by Paul Lovatt-Cooper was inspired by the beautiful and vast Swiss Alps as a platform connecting the earth to the heavens above.
The concert will feature two of Woolston's young soloists; Tenor Horn Soloist Hazel Wilson from Woolston Concert Brass will perform Eric Ball’s ‘Mountain Melody’and Guest Soloist Jasmine Ward from Woolston Brass will perform ‘Xylophonia’ arranged by Ray Woodfield.
Woolston Concert Brass will also perform film theme ‘Lawrence of Arabia’ and the fiery latin piece ‘Fandango'.
Woolston Concert Brass is part of the Woolston Brass Academy and gained 2nd place in the C Grade at the Wellington National Brass Band Championships held in 2018, and recently gained 2nd place in the C Grade section at the Canterbury Provincial Brass Band Association Contest.
