Mondays on Stage: Rakuto Kurano - Violinist, Violist, Pianist and Composer

This concert will feature 19-year-old performer-composer Rakuto Kurano performing on violin, viola, and piano. Music will range from the Baroque period to newly composed pieces by Rakuto himself. Music by J.S Bach, Frédéric Chopin, Samuel Barber, and more.

Rakuto Kurano is a 19-year-old violinist, violist, pianist, and composer. He is currently a second-year music student at the University of Canterbury studying violin, viola, and composition. As an orchestral musician, he is the concertmaster of the UC Christchurch Youth Orchestra, and a violinist in the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra. He is a frequent performer of chamber music on both violin & viola, and performs regularly on piano as a soloist. As a composer, he has won a number of awards, which include winning the NZ Harp Duo composition competition in both 2016 and 2017.
