An assembled orchestra of students and staff from the UC School of Music, augmented by players from the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra perform a programme of classical and contemporary works.

The concert opens with the resplendent and ever popular Mozart "Exsultate, Jubilate" K. 165 with Samantha Warhurst - Soprano. A specially commissioned work, "Concertino for Bassoon and Orchestra", by UC composition student Gabriel Baird takes centre stage with the solo part being performed by the composer himself! The concert closes with Franz Schubert's elegant and 'mozart-ian' Symphony no. 5 in B-flat major D. 485.

This recital was made possible through the generous support of the Farina Thompson Charitable Trust, the Keith Laugesen Charitable Trust, the Dame Malvina Major Foundation, and The Piano: Centre for Music and the Arts.
